Become an advisor!

send us your application today

If you would like to join a team of volunteer advisors who are passionate about providing high-quality advice, we would love to hear from you.

The Legal Aid Service has approximately 30 advisors attached.

As an advisor, you will be assigned to a specific day of the week on one of our opening days. These days of the week will typically change every six months in connection with the start of a new semester.

The advisors work in pairs and have a weekly shift of approximately 4 hours. As a new advisor, you will work with a more experienced advisor. The advice is given in close consultation with supervisors and the daily manager.

As an advisor, you will advise in all of our practice areas, except immigration law. This gives our advisors the opportunity to learn about a wide range of practice areas and gain practical experience in advising in a variety of different practice areas and complex case types. This practical experience is a very valuable contribution to your CV.

We expect the advice to be of high quality, which our supervisors help to ensure through close supervision of the advice. Our experience is that as a law student you are best equipped to handle advice interviews when you are in your 5th semester (or end of the 4th semester).

We aim to offer a good professional and practical contribution to your studies or working life in a safe environment. In addition, we offer a good working environment, where we focus on holding professionally relevant presentations and social events, where you as a consultant have the opportunity to network and create mutual relationships.

Aarhus Legal Aid encourages everyone, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, social background, sexual orientation, disability, and religious or political views, to apply.

Christian Lauridsen

Legal consultant, cand. jur (previously volunteer)

"Being a volunteer counselor involves more than just providing a service; it's about creating understanding and helping people find solutions to their problems. I have a good feeling when I leave Legal Aid because I have helped people directly and made a positive difference in their lives."

During the study you gain a lot of general knowledge, but here you get to really get to know the craft of law.

Astrid

student of law

I am really happy to be a volunteer, both because I can use my knowledge from my studies in practice, and because it makes sense in relation to my future career.

Jane

student of law

Being able to help people who need help is a joy in itself. Being able to help people solve problems that would otherwise cost them a lot of money is a joy in a whole other league.

Jakob

student of law

Even though I have only been a volunteer advisor for a short time, I can clearly feel that the work is developing my knowledge and understanding of the law incredibly much. In addition, legal aid is generally just a nice place to come, with super good colleagues, and I really enjoy showing up for every shift.
